The Tastiest Weekend in KC

This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend one of Kansas City’s premier food and beverage events: Tasty Expo. For those of you that didn’t hear about this event or weren’t able to attend let me put it simply: FOOD GALORE. Never have I been in a room with so many vendors and people who share a passion for all things food. While the space seemed rather small upon walking in, I’m not sure I even talked to/tried every booth because there were that many booths!

Check out the slide show at the end for more photos!

Vendors came from all across the state and country to showcase their products. There were a number of local booths, some from the Kansas and Missouri areas, others from out of state. Other booths featured national or larger scale vendors.

I started my Tasty Expo Friday night, with a VIP preview party. There was live music, drinks, the charcuterie board of my dreams, and the company of vendors and attendees. After indulging in some yummy snacks, I had the opportunity to meet some other attendees. Some of the vendors I met with included Edgewood Creamery, Daniel’s BBQ Sauce, Joe’s Garlic Sauce, Backattack Snacks, and Art from Architecture.

The remainder of the weekend was spent exploring the expo space and lawn. I (along with my lovable +1) were able to wander, eat, drink, and connect. There were live food and beverage demonstrations all weekend. Deep Eddy taught everyone how to make the simplest cocktails — I’m talking 14 cocktails in 20 minutes. I learned how to create a perfect charcuterie board (who knew honeycomb was so useful?). Barefoot Wines hosted the “Are You Smarter Than a Wine-O” games (unfortunately I didn’t participate) where the audience competed in fun,

wine-themed games. Outside Deep Eddy and Stella Artois kept everyone refreshed during while attendees enjoyed live music, BBQ, and lawn games. I’m happy to announce I’m still the reigning corn hold champ!

Some of the other fun booths we visited include Yakult USA, Petersen’s Family Farm, Cedar Lake Teas, and 360 Vodka. Again, there were so many vendors, I’m not sure I can list them all!

I’m so glad that Tasty Expo invited me to participate in this incredible event. I don’t think I’ve ever consumed so many samples. Everything I tasted was absolutely delightful, as was the conversation I had with so many of the vendors.

Stay tuned for more posts and stories about some of the vendors I connected with!

Best Bites,

Allie

It was great to meet you all too! We both loved the sea salt popcorn – some of the best we’ve had!
