The Weekly Bite: Booze, Brews, Bowls, & Burritos

August has been off to an amazing start! With the hint of fall weather last weekend and the mild ‘70s and sunshine, I have been enjoying the last bits of my summer break. This was perfect for outdoor adventures and patio hangs! Here’s a look at the week’s highlights:

Lost Evenings Brewing Company

This new brewery in Lenexa was the last “stop” on the Johnson County Ale Trail for us! Despite opening during the pandemic, they have a great selection of beers and lots socially distanced seating. We tried half their current offerings: Orangavarium, Cruel Summer, Muddy Paws, and Down the Pub. Lots of variety and definitely worth a visit!

Ramen Bowls (Lawrence, KS)

Last weekend we made a stop in Lawrence to help my sister start moving into her apartment. Of course we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to eat somewhere in LFK, so stopped into Ramen Bowls! I had a veggie bowl, homeboy had the double soup, and we split some gyoza. Other eats at our table included the gyoza bowl and spam misubi!

Parlor

We decided to take our Passport Program out for a spin this week, and initially planned on checking out The Pairing. Unfortunately their wine bar is closed Tuesdays, so we went around the corner to Parlor for socially distanced drinks on the patio. The weather was perfect for sipping on old fashioned draft cocktails!

We purchased our passport program book; for those unfamiliar the book offers 2-for-1 drink deals all over KC — you can read more here

Farmer’s Market Faves

Had a mid-week coffee from the Wild Way! I have been loving her summer menu, and have found that Wednesday mornings are a little less busy. This week I grabbed a Berry Good Cheesecake Latte (with housemade whip!) to pair with my bananas foster beignet from Veloute. Love the combination of berry and graham cracker milk!

Red Kitchen

Broke out the Open Belly edition of our Give & Partake book for a breakfast at Red Kitchen. Located in Lenexa’s Public Market, this spot is known for their breakfast burritos. Obviously I had to try them, and they lived up to the hype! Made fresh, these bites have the perfect amount of spice and are wrapped in delicious tortillas. It paired well with Roasterie coffee and catching up with a friend!

McLain’s Bakery

Enjoyed another patio in the Waldo area! A good friend and I got to catch up over lunch on their socially distant patio. They even had a walk-up window for easy ordering and pick up! I loved the market wrap I had — the sweet potato quinoa falafel was delicious and it was packed with veggies.

All in all it’s been a good week! Not looking forward to this coming week’s rain and humidity, but we have a few delicious outings (and a new giveaway!!) already planned! Stay tuned for another Weekly Bite!
